    Doctor in the House & Doctor at Large


    Dramatised by Ray Cooney for radio in 1968 & 1969. A show that was based in a teaching hospital, where the doctors would practicce their trade and also chase nurses and have hilarious adventures. Following in his father's footsteps, Simon Sparrow registers as a doctor-to-be at St Swithin's but soon gets on the wrong side of Sir Lancelot Spratt.

    Doctor in the House
    01 St Swithin's. Simon Sparrow registers to join St Swithin's and makes an immediate impression with Sir Lancelot Spratt.
    02 Digs. Stuck for a place to stay, Sparrow's offered somewhere by Evans, but hasn't bargained on vampish landlady Mrs Robinson.
    03 Anatomy. More medical mayhem as Simon and Taffy struggle to get to grips with dissecting human bodies, and face their first exams.
    04 In The Wards. The student doctors work on the wards for the first time, but nothing prepares them for the formidable Sister Virtue.
    05 Our First Operation. More medical mayhem at St Swithins hospital as the trainee Doctors witness their first operation.
    06 Sex And St Swithin's. The doctors have sex on the brain as Simon Sparrow breaks all the rules by flirting with a pretty new nurse.
    07 Our First Baby. Medic Simon Sparrow is thrown in the deep-end, on St Swithins' antenatal ward.
    08 Happy Christmas. The doctors are asked to provide the entertainment for the St Swithins Christmas party.
    09 Out-patients. Simon Sparrow can't tell a boil from a boiled sweet and Taffy gets more than he bargained for on the night shift.
    10 Money Troubles. With their microscopes in at the pawnbroker, Sparrow, Benskin and Evans need cash in a hurry.
    11 Women And Wine. Can Sparrow get himself a girlfriend? With Benskin and Evans for advice and a ticket to the Nurses' Ball, how can he fail?
    12 Marriage-itis. Benskin's getting married to Vera and Sparrow has to cope with both his hangover and a bad case of cold feet.
    13 To Pass Or Not To Pass. Nerves and pints all round as the student doctors at St Swithin's take their finals.

    02 The S S Lotus. Simon Sparrow finds his new job as ship's doctor far from plain sailing.
    03 Women On Board. Seasick ship's doctor Simon Sparrow takes a shine to the company chairman's daughter.
    04 The Doctor's Dilemma. Can a seasick Doctor Sparrow perform an emergency operation using cutlery for instruments and brandy for anaesthetic?
    05 Farewell Las Palmas. Dr Sparrow is caught in a compromising position with a young lady - twice. Only Easter's 'pep pills' can save him now.
    06 The Captain's Problem. Sparrow is concerned about the Captain's state of mind, but his 'madness' is not quite what it seems.
    07 Mozambique. Sparrow is introduced to the delights of Mozambique and encounters a little local linguistic difficulty.
    08 In General Practice. Sparrow heads to Aberdeen for a job, but his brilliant career is undermined by a lady with a penchant for pepped-up port.
    09 To Bed Or Not To Bed. Dr Sparrow has planned a naughty weekend away with Wendy but events appear to be conspiring against them.
    10 Dr Sparrow Of Harley Street. Simon Sparrow goes to work for Sir Lancelot for two weeks at his rather posh practice.
    11 Disengagement. Sparrow inadvertently gets himself engaged and it's up to Benskin and Spratt to help him out.
    12 Fellowship. A tale of confusion as the x-ray of a dead ostrich leads Simon's friends to believe that he won't be with them for long.
    13 Marriage And Surgery. Simon Sparrow must sit his surgeon's exam and get wed to Wendy all in one morning.
